In the summer of 2018, every family in Sweden could find among the advertising leaflets and postcards a brochure titled “Om krisen eller kriget kommer” in their mailbox.  In it, the government informed its citizens in simple language and with telling drawings and use of speaking colours what measures to take in anticipation of a possible crisis, terrorist attack or war.

The quasi-nonchalant nature of the distribution stands in strong contrast to the message of the pamphlet. 

Indeed, after reading, two uncomfortable questions quickly arise: Where does education stop and indoctrination - the spreading of fear begin?  And what is the purpose of this?

In this installation the paradoxical nature of the human individual is exposed.  After all, on the one hand we flinch at the possible infringement of our freedom.  On the other hand we are apparently prepared to sacrifice this Freedom thoughtlessly by (literally) closing ourselves off from the other…out of fear.  And then the question arises: 

Who benefits from this?
