Kirsi Kempkes is a Belgian artist who lives and works in Belgium and Sweden.

Fundamental in her often mysterious and dreamy work is her quest for people’s vulnerability.  Curiosity, the fragility and beauty which accompanies ‘showing oneselves’, as well as the hope to break taboos outline her motivation.

By using the pinhole technique as well as applying an own colour palette, she tries to make the human fragility tactile.  Either by literally heading out, but more often by confronting oneself, Kirsi Kempkes tries to portray the feelings that make us vulnerable such as fear, impotence, tenderness.  Like this, she strives to reveal the beauty that accompanies the act of truly showing oneself, even if it is only for herself.

In her presentation she uses other media to emphasize her message.
